ANNA JANE (b. 1984)
I am an amateur artist currently studying a BA (Fine Art and Visual Culture) through Curtin University.
As a visual arts student I spend plenty of time researching and analysing the motives and meanings of other Artists and artworks, and documenting my investigation and processes while working towards finished artworks. When researching historical artists content is mostly what others have said about them and is unlikely to include first-person documented processes. Unfortunately this is also the trend with contemporary artists who one can assume have internet access.
With my web-presence I wanted to focus on myself as a practicing artist and give transparency to my practices and processes whilst sharing finished artworks as the processes involved in creative thinking and artistic creation are as important as the final artwork itself. My personal investigations when creating can draw on many different sources and many different times in my life and can involve many different artistic disciplines. Everything is interconnected.
Through this central website and my linked social media profiles I wish to share my creative journey with you so that you might foster a deeper understanding of art in general and a more intimate connection to my psyche which I hope will help you appreciate my creations on a deeper level.
